Feel Better. Move Forward. Thrive.

Life doesn't always go quite as we'd like. Sometimes we feel stuck, overwhelmed or held back by fears, self-doubt, unhelpful habits or patterns we'd like to change.

At Thrive and Progress, I offer a friendly, practical and supportive approach to helping you overcome challenges, build confidence and move forward.

Whether you're looking to manage stress and anxiety, overcome fears or phobias, improve sleep, build confidence, prepare for exams, enhance performance in sport or everyday life, or change unhelpful habits, we'll focus on what matters to you.

Rather than dwelling on what's gone wrong, we'll look at where you want to be, build on your strengths and take positive steps towards your goals.

Sessions are available online, so you can access personalised support from the comfort of your own home.

Ready to take the next step

Let's have a friendly chat about what you'd like to achieve.

Hi, I’m Esther Hathorn.

I believe we all have the ability to make positive changes, sometimes we just need a little support to get there.

I help people of different ages and backgrounds overcome challenges, build confidence, improve performance and move beyond fears or habits that may be holding them back.

My approach is friendly, practical and focused on solutions. Using solution-focused techniques, an understanding of how the mind works and guided relaxation, I help you discover your strengths and take positive steps towards your goals.

Whether you're facing a particular challenge or simply want to feel more confident and in control, I'm here to support you as you move forward.

What About the Hypnosis Part?

If the word hypnosis makes you think of stage shows or someone swinging a watch, you're certainly not alone!

The hypnosis used in sessions is very different. It's a gentle, guided relaxation experience, a little like becoming absorbed in a good book, daydreaming or listening to a calming podcast.

You remain aware and in control throughout. You can speak or stop the session whenever you choose, and there's no pressure to experience anything unusual.

It's simply one part of a friendly, supportive approach designed to help you move forward with greater confidence.

What is Solution Focused Therapy?

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a positive, practical approach that combines solution-focused conversations with guided relaxation to help you work towards the changes you'd like to make.

Rather than spending lots of time exploring what's gone wrong or why, we focus on where you want to be, what's already working well in your life and the small steps that can help you move forward.

The approach draws on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, developed through the work of Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, alongside techniques designed to encourage relaxation

What to Expect When We Work Together

1. Getting to Know You and Your Goals

We start with a friendly conversation about what you'd like to achieve and how you'd like things to be different. I'll also ask about your general wellbeing and any relevant medical information so we can make sure the approach is suitable for you.

2. Understanding How Your Mind Works

I'll explain, in everyday language, how our brains respond to stress, emotions and habits. Understanding a little more about these patterns can help you make sense of your experiences and discover practical ways to move forward.

3. Your First Hypnotherapy Session

Your first paid session includes gentle guided relaxation alongside our solution-focused conversation. There's nothing you need to perform or get right. You'll remain in control throughout, and I'll explain everything before we begin.

4. A Personalised Approach

Everyone is different, so we'll work at a pace that suits you and your goals. Some specific concerns may need only a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We can discuss the options together, including my structured eight-week programme.

5. Support Between Sessions

You'll receive a relaxation recording to listen to between appointments. Regular listening can help you practise relaxing and create a familiar opportunity to unwind as you work towards your goals.
